Day Zero: Why I am learning in public

Today I built this website.

I am about to begin an Applied Mathematics degree at Hebei University of Technology. My long-term ambition is to pursue a PhD in an AI-related field in the United States. That is a distant goal, and writing it down does not make me ready for it.

What this site is for

WH Learning will be a public record of my progress: mathematics notes, code, paper readings, experiments, projects, mistakes, and changes of mind. I want the record to show not only what I studied, but how I think.

I will try to make each substantial project answer five questions:

What problem am I trying to understand?
Why does it matter?
What did I actually do?
What evidence did I find?
What failed, and what should I try next?

What I am focusing on first

My first responsibility is to build strong foundations. That means learning calculus, linear algebra, probability, programming, and mathematical writing carefully, without rushing past them to collect impressive-sounding keywords.

Over time, I hope to connect these foundations to machine learning and research. For now, the goal is simpler: show up, study deeply, build things, and leave a clear trail.
